How to configure your dial up settings

The document walks you through setting up a MartNet dialup connection on Mac OS X (version 10.0 and up)

Configuring PPP

To configure PPP:

1. Choose the System Preference icon in the Dock and click on it once

2. Click on the "Network Icon".



3. Make sure that "Internal Modem" is selected next to Show: at the top of the window

4. Click on the "PPP" tab

5. Type "martnet" in the box next to "Service Provider"

6. Type your local dial up number next to "Telephone Number", if you don't know your local dial up number, check here.

7. Type your dial up login name next to "Account Name" (dont forget to put in the "@martnet.com")

8. Type in your password next to "Password"

9. To finish, Click on the "Apply" button

Configuring TCP/IP

To configure TCP/IP:

1. Click on the TCP/IP tab

2. Make sure that "Using PPP" is selected next to "Configure"

3. In the box under "Domain Name Servers" put in the following numbers 216.126.128.40 and 216.126.136.250

4. To finish, Click on the "Apply" button. Then quit out of "System Preferences"

Dialing up using "Internet Connect"

1. Inside your Applications folder, there is a program called "Internet Connect". Double click on it to open the program

.

2. To connect, click on the Connect button to connect. Press it again when you are ready to disconnect.

3. For an easier to connect, click on the check box next to "Show modem status in the menu bar". A telephone icon will appear in the menu bar at the top right of the screen. Click on that in the future and you can easily connect and disconnect.
