Using SFTP
Upload and Download your files securely

In an effort to make out servers and your account more secure, we highly recommend that customers do whatever they can to keep their passwords. Part of that is keeping you password encrypted when transmitting it to the server. Many of our customers use FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to send and receive files to their account. The problem with FTP is that it transmits your password in plain text which is very insecure and could possibly be intercepted by someone in transit.

This is why we recommend using SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) to send and receive files. This is more and more becoming the new standard and we highly encourage our customer to use this instead. Some ftp programs already have this built in (such as the new Dreamweaver MX 2004) To use SFTP, use the same settings you normally use for FTP, but just check off the box to use SFTP. It's that easy. Below are some great free programs you can download that use SFTP by default.
