Connecting with Windows 2000
How to configure your Windows 2000 computer to connect to Martnet
  • Click the Start button, click Settings, and choose Control Panel.

  • Double-click the Network and Dial-up Connections icon.

  • Double-click the Make New Connection icon.

  • Click the Next button.

  • Select Dial-up to the Internet.
  • Click the Next button.

  • Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN).
  • Click the Next button.

  • Select I connect through a phone line and a modem.
  • Click the Next button.

  • Click the down arrow on the Select a modem to use to connect to the Internet drop-down list and choose your modem. (the first one that appears is usually the correct choice)
  • Click the Next button.

  • Uncheck the box next to Use area code and dialing rules.
  • In the Telephone number field, type your local MartNet access number. A Dial Up Access number can be found on our Dial Up Number Search page.

    Note:

    • Remember to check with your local telephone company to make sure that the access number you choose is a local toll-free call.
    • When you enter the access number, type it exactly as you would dial it from your home phone.
    • Do not include a 1 or the area code unless you have to dial it to make a local call from your home telephone.
    • If you are dialing from a hotel, office, or other phone system that requires you to dial a digit such as 9 to get an outside line, insert that number before the access number.
    • Ignore the Area Code field. All numbers, including 9, 1, or area code should be entered in the Telephone Number field.

  • Click the Next button.

  • In the User name field, type your entire email address (e.g., user@martnet.com).
  • In the Password field, type your password.

    Note: Remember, your password is case sensitive. (Make sure your CAPS LOCK button is off!)

  • Click the Next button.

  • In the Connection Name field, type "MartNet"
  • Click the Next button.

  • Click the No radio button in the Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now area.
  • Click the Next button.

  • Uncheck the box next to To connect to the Internet immediately....
  • Click the Finish button.

  • From the Start menu, click Settings, and choose Control Panel.

  • Double-click the Network and Dial-Up Connections icon.

  • Right-click your MartNet dial-up connection and select Create Shortcut from the pop-up menu.

  • Click the Yes button to create a shortcut on the desktop.

  • Close all windows.
